Service Description

The Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor course trains participants to teach the full suite of Red Cross lifeguarding programs, including Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterfront Skills, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. This advanced-level course prepares instructor candidates to deliver high-quality training, evaluate lifeguard candidates’ performance, and maintain Red Cross instructional standards. Participants will learn the following: Deliver engaging and effective lifeguarding courses using Red Cross curriculum Conduct pre-course skills sessions and in-water rescue scenario evaluations Facilitate classroom, land-based, and water-based training sessions Evaluate and provide feedback on participants’ CPR, First Aid, and water rescue skills Administer course logistics, including paperwork, course records, and certification issuance Use Red Cross resources, manuals, and digital tools to manage and enhance course delivery Certification Requirements: Must possess a current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Demonstrate proficiency in lifeguarding skills during in-person precourse session **The course will include an online portion as well as classroom instruction and practical, hands-on skill sessions. Upon successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognized Red Cross certification, valid for two years.**
