Service Description
The Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding course is designed to prepare individuals to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies in water depths up to 5 feet. This certification is ideal for lifeguards working at facilities such as hotel pools, waterparks, or shallow recreational swim areas in which water does not exceed designated depth. Participants will learn the following: Surveillance techniques specific to shallow water environments Water rescue skills, including assists, rescues, and spinal injury management CPR/AED and First Aid for adults, children, and infants Emergency action planning and communication Prerequisite: Swim 100 yards; 2 minute treat with no hands; retrieve a 10-pound brick in 4-7 feet of water. Failure to meet the swim test requirements will prevent further participation in the course. The course will include an online portion as well as classroom instruction and practical, hands-on skill sessions. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Red Cross Shallow Water Lifeguarding certification, including CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and First Aid - all valid for two years.
